Whitening the skin is probably one of the most common woes of both men and women. People want to have a fairer complexion for a couple of reasons. It can be because their skin is uneven that their face is lighter than their neck, overexposure to the sun that resulted to excess sunburn, or it can be as simple as preferring to have lighter skin. While all of these reasons are perfectly valid, a lot of people are concerned about how to go about skin whitening.
This is common sense because when the skin is overexposed to the sun’s UV rays, it elicits an overproduction of melanin. Melanin is a pigment that the skin produces that helps in protecting from UV rays. When there’s too much sun, too much melanin is produced. If you can’t avoid the sun (and no, you don’t have to go hiding in the office or in shaded places), just always put sunblock over your body including your face and your neck.
Exfoliating is important because it removes the dead and dry skin cells that clog your pores. You have to remove this every once in a while so that your skin looks alive and bright rather than dull and dark. There are several drugstore body scrubs you can find ranging from coffee to tomato scrubs. If you want a lighter complexion, go for a sugar or salt scrub. When you apply this, make sure that you rub it on your skin in a circular manner. This will improve the overall blood circulation.
Face masks are all the talk these days, with different stores producing so many ready-made ones. They are made from different ingredients, but the best ones are the those that use organic products. Face masks are fairly easy to do. For whitening, you can either try an orange mask or a lemon mask.
First up is the orange mask. To make this, dry the orange peel under the sun and grind them until it’s powdery. After that, mix it with a tablespoon of yogurt and mix it until it resembles a paste. Put this on your face and leave it for 20 minutes then rinse it off. The same procedure applies to a lemon mask only with different ingredients. For the lemon mask, mix a tablespoon of pure lemon juice, a teaspoon of honey, and mix it with a tablespoon of milk.
